good god it's nice out :)  I'm currently sitting by my window, listening to the sounds of the city below...

You know, I really hope that the movie doesn't suck after all of this. Not that I think it will, seeing as how its Bruce Campbell making fun of himself.

a tale of two scarves...



alright so I'm in the process of making two scarves. One is pretty: (Noro striped scarf)





and the other... not so much. For whatever reason I bought all this wool in camoflage colors and now I don't know what to do with it. I think when I bought it I was excited about making fingerless gloves, and not knowing how much I would need, I went out and bought 4 skeins in some kind of blind yarn blitz buying madness.







So yeah... not sure what that was about. Anyway, so in an attempt to use it up quickly, I'm "burning up" all 4 skeins at once on large size 13 needles. The result thus far is a thick wool scarf, but this also makes it somewhat stiff but not terribly so. When its finished I'll probably make an attempt to sell it on Etsy unless someone steps forward and claims it (any takers?) Of course it'll be May before its finished.... :P

Sweet Pumpkin Redux... that's what I'm calling this particular "blend".

OK so the pillar set just fine, but it came out WAY more neon than I hoped. That's what I get for not reading directions!!



Basically, I put in twice as much dye as I should have for such a batch, so I went back and re-melted the pillar along with more wax so the dye to wax ratio was closer to 1:1. Or, really, as close as it could be without acurately measuring :P

My brother also sent me this -- you have to be an Arrested Development fan in order to get it tho :)

It has begun!! I went and started making a pillar candle tonight. We'll see how this goes :)



oh look, it's my foot. :)

First, I broke the wax into chunks with a hammer. Didn't break completely smoothly of course, but close enough. I'll need to get a kitchen scale at some point and try to get more exact chunks. I think it was roughly a 1.25lb chunk there.

this is my coffeetable at the moment -- five candles going! I'm crazy!! :) Well, actually I'm testing out both the pillar and the votive I've made so far. I'm trying to use up the rest of the green wax that I made from that kit, and all I have are little votive molds at the moment, so it could be a little while.



So yeah, it's just the two that are being "tested", all the others are just an attempt to use up the candles I've collected over time. And meanwhile, 3 more votives are setting right now!!

I'm particular fascinated by the blue candle in the middle -- its been all twisting and warping as it melts -- I love it!!! It's so odd to create something with its main purpose of being that you eventually destroy it over time. I didn't make the blue candle (as stated) but I've been taking pictures of it as it warps:

tee hee!! This seems rather true, based on Jon's obsessive behavior during the Little Big Planet beta run. Oh he's so cute when he's obsessed :)

In other news, and hopefully not sounding too emo about it all... my creative spark for drawing has all but gone :( The flame is going out and I don't know how to get it going again. This has been going on for quite awhile, as you can probably tell from my lack of DA and T6D updates... for those of you who check that stuff anyway. I have had a major artist's block for a long time now and I can't see a way around or through it :( If anyone has any suggestions that'd be most helpful :)

I'm also thinking of moving my "blog" (and I use the term rather loosely) to my domain and using wordpress from now on and just blog from that rather than LJ... and try to update a little bit more no matter how mundane? I need/want to get a personal site up and post pictures, crafts, that sort of thing.

I'm thinking about making a new etsy store too to get rid of my old name :) Will post when up.
